That Boutique-y Whisky Company – Dumbarton 22 Year Old Batch 1, 47.8%
Oh don’t groan, yes, I know it’s another grain from That Boutique-y Whisky Company. It’s a slippery slope today, I might end up opening a favourite bottle. Someone please tell me not to!! Someone? Anyone?
This is the 22 year old batch 1 – 47.8% vol. from the now closed Dumbarton Distillery, bottled by That Boutique-y Whisky Company, I bought this bottle earlier in the year.
As always the label sports some fab artwork by Emily Chappell.
My Review
The nose delivers hints of rich muscovado sugar, and there is the scent of warm soft leather and a piece of fudge while you sip the sweet and sticky almost bitter remains of a mocha in the bottom of a mug.
On the palate there is a taste of cherries and a little orange or something ever so slightly tart. There’s a black tea bitterness to this. Spicy too. A little nutty.. and some lovely wood flavours. A nice mouthful.
The finish is pleasant with the flavours slowly fading leaving a gentle warmth.
Hey! I’ve not really been a fan of grain whisky. Your review is good though.
