Boutique-y-licious Baby!

I don’t want a lot for Christmas
There’s just one thing I need
I don’t care about the presents
Underneath the Christmas tree
I just want to sip and savour (you)
More than you could ever know
Make my wish come true
All I want for Christmas is you
Boutique-y, you
Boutique-y, you

…or something like that, you know?

So anyway… Christmas is coming, Santa’s sacks are bulging and he wanted to give some good boys and girls a little early treat, a little something to whet their appetites… what more could you ask for?

Presents are fab, and I love giving them, and can you imagine my delight at receiving this lovely little Twelve Days of Christmas from That Boutiquey Whisky Company. While this was resting in my drafts #WhiskySanta only went and granted me my wish !!

The Tasting

This was live from New York with Chanel from Atom Brands and the one and only tricorn wearing Dave aka the guv’nor… and us, us was there too !!

The Whiskies

The 3 whiskies we were going to sample were:

Teaninich 11 year old – Batch 2 – 47.9% vol.

Speyside 8 year old – Batch 1 – 50.7% vol.

Auchroisk 12 year old – Batch 7 – 47.9% vol.

Teaninich 11 year old

First of the unpronounceables was the Teaninich, the nose was really fresh and grassy, a little caramelly note too. This is such a light whisky colour wise… more on the palate than the nose suggested… a little tart apple. Gingery spice and a little softness too…

Speyside 8 year old

Honey and spice… (and all things nice) with lovely fruity notes. Quite a mouthful.. nice warming spice… a little bitter. A mere hint of cherry / dark fruit. Leaves me wanting more… a teeny hint of bitter orange.

The last dram…

Auchroisk 12 year old

The last tongue teasing unpronounceable was the Auchroisk which had a very sweet nose, a slightly pastry-ish, light floral hint. The palate delivered sort of a bitter sweetness… a little vanilla and honey but there’s a slight lemony bitterness there. That pastry is still there a bit.

That Boutique-y Whisky Company

If you haven’t tried any of their releases and you are given the opportunity to do so, then do try them. Some people might grumble at the the bottle size 50cl (I don’t) or not like the labels which give cryptic clues to the distillery and stories of them, but I do. They are conversation starters, they also make for a damn good game of spot the difference… and can make great additions to home decor, if you are a) that way inclined or b) a fan girl !!

Huge amount of thanks to Chanel, Dave, Atom Brands… Santa and the other lovelies from the tasting.
