That Boutique-y Whisky Company – Bourbon Whisky #1 24 Year Old Batch 1, 48%
On the first day of Christmas my true love gave to me… one 24 year old Bourbon from Boutique-y Whisk(e)-y… and not only was it for Christmas, it’s also for enjoyment the rest of the year too!!
I’m watching the X-files at the moment, the label makes me think Fox Mulder could work the clues out… the lady behind these wonderful works of art is Emily Chappell. You gotta check the label out, you just have to. They are full of hints and clues…if you can spot them!!
So, yes, I had tried this before as part of a tasting, and I had asked myself a question “were my initial thoughts on this situational?” Yes, the answer to that is yes !!
On the evening this really wasn’t ‘talking to me’… “no real sweetness on the nose… but there’s some vanilla, a slight scent of ground coffee but not freshly ground.” Not sure if this was situational? Tasted on the Fourth of July: Twitter Tasting
I opened the calendar and low and behold this little beauty was in there.. I had tried this in Manchester recently and decided that I really should have a bottle of this…so now I have one.
My Review
The nose delivers lovely rich vanilla, with coffee and lovely dark sugar a little wisp of caramel, a little black cherry, and dark fruit with a dusting of chocolate.
On the palate, as before this has a rich full mouthfeel. And I do love that… there is a slight hint of oak tannins, morello cherries and jammy berries. Woody flavours and a delicious warmth.
Lovely warming vanillar-y finish.
Many thanks to That Boutique-y Whisky Company / Atom Brands / Drinks by the Dram for this advent calendar… there’s still time to get one!!
