Merr-y Christmas Days 2 – 4 | That Boutiquey Whisky Company
So we are on to day 4 of the Boutique-y Whisky Advent Calendar… and if you’ve been blindfolded or not on social media then these will be a surprise!
Day 2 – Speyside #3 – 8 year old – Batch 1 – 50.7% vol.
Honey and spice… (and all things nice) with lovely fruity notes. Quite a mouthful.. nice warming spice… a little bitter. A mere hint of cherry / dark fruit. Leaves me wanting more… a teeny hint of bitter orange.
Day 3 – New York Distilling Company – 2 year old – Batch 3 – 47.7% vol.
On the nose a little cherry… also a little clove. This is quite fresh with hints of ginger. A youthful air to this. Brown sugar, with a hint of orange mingles with vanilla and a touch of leather. Spice and more spice greets the palate, along with vanilla, and it’s peppery too. Still getting some sweetness on the palate. It’s smooth, but by heck it lets you know it’s in your mouth !!
The finish is pepperiness that lasts, with a touch of vanilla.
Day 4 – Teaninich 11 year old – Batch 2 – 47.9% vol.
The nose is really fresh and grassy, a little caramelly note too. This is such a light whisky colour wise… more on the palate than the nose suggested… a little tart apple. Gingery spice and a little softness too…
