A Trip to Speyside and the Highlands

Oh…I needed something today (last Friday), I felt the need for another escape, so I went for a little drive. I decided to go back to Glenfiddich Distillery for a bite of lunch. Even though I was there two weeks ago, it was nice to be back.

It always is…

The sun was out to greet me once again as I reached Dufftown (I’m now singing Sun to Me by Faithless as I’m writing this)

After having my temperature checked and leaving my details, I headed across for lunch. Though a reduced menu, the quality is still there, and sitting outside in the sunshine was just lovely!

As I had also spotted that Aberlour Distillery had also open its doors once more, I made an appointment to visit there too. Beforehand, I went and sat down by the river Spey for a while. I was mesmerised by the water as it drifted downstream, watching swallows dancing through the air, bliss…

A familiar face in the shape of Rikki, greeted me at the distillery. It was nice to catch up with him, and once all sorted out, a trip up to the visitor centre. I had a nice chat with Jonathan too. It’ll be interesting to see what happens next at the distillery…

Then it was a bit of a road trip. Passing a few distilleries such as the GlenAllachie, Glenfarclas, Ballindalloch, Cragganmore and Tormore. Then turning around and going past the Glenlivet, and then eventually up over the Lecht before dropping down into Braemar before heading home.
